Q. How much will it cost to remodel my kitchen or bathroom?
A. Like cars or weddings or vacations the range of budgets is wide. A small kitchen using our entry-level
custom cabinet products can be remodeled for
$14,000 to $20,000. Larger kitchens using custom products can reach over
$75,000. Knowing your investment capabilities and relative value of your home are good indicators of a wise dollar investment. In new construction, a rule of thumb is that approximately 10 to 15% of the total market value should be allocated for custom cabinetry.
Q.
What kind of return can I expect from remodeling my kitchen if
I sell my home?
A. Most home improvement projects do not return 100% of
their value. However, based on results compiled by Remodeling
Magazine, kitchen remodeling can give you between 90% and 94%
return on your investment. Compare that with the following
remodeling projects: Deck Addition - 72%, Family Room Addition -
83%, Replace Windows - 74%.
Q.
Do you come out to the house to give free estimates?
A. We have found that it is most productive if you
visit our studio and make some basic selections before we visit
your home. If you already have kitchen plans we will be happy to
estimate your project However, like any professional, we do
require a small professional fee before doing any extensive design
work.
Q.
What is the procedure for getting started and getting a quote?
A. The best way to get started is to visit our
studio. An appointment will ensure the undivided attention of a
designer. Please contact us to make an appointment to visit our
studio and meet with a designer.
Q.
How competitive is your pricing?
A. Our pricing is very competitive. We offer outstanding
value for our products and services. While we do sell only
fully custom cabinets, they are available in many different price
ranges.
Q.
Do you offer financing?
A. We have found over the years, that
the vast majority of our clients prefer to use their own financing
or home equity lines. However, we do work with our local bank and
they will be happy to assist you with financing options for
your new kitchen.
Q. How long will the job take from start to finish?
A. Depending on the complexity of the design, the size of
the room, the type of countertop and any remodeling work being
done, you can plan on 1 - 6 weeks for installation.
Q.
Do you have your own people do the installation?
A. We use our own installers as well as our established
network of qualified contractors.
Q.
How long do you warranty the material and work?
A. When Artistic Kitchen Design, LLC is contracted for the
installation, we guarantee the installation for as long as you own
your home. In addition to our guarantee, all of our products come
with their own manufacturers' warranties.
Q.
Do you stay on the job the entire time?
A. Artistic Kitchen Design, LLC stays with you through the
entire project. We can oversee every aspect of the job that you
wish us to. We do many site visits and work closely with you until
your project has been completed to your satisfaction.
Q. What is the difference between full overlay, traditional
overlay and inset doors?
A. Full overlay doors cover the face frame
of a cabinet almost completely while traditional overlay doors
reveal approximately 1" of the face frame. As the name
implies, inset doors are mounted inside the frame.
Q.
What is the difference between framed and frameless cabinets?
A. Framed cabinet construction has three components. The
cabinet doors are attached to the face frame of the cabinet, which
is then attached to the cabinet box. In a frameless cabinet, there
is no face frame. The cabinet doors are attached directly to the
cabinet box itself. Eliminating the face frame on the frameless
cabinet allows for greater access and storage capability than its'
framed counterpart.
Q. What kind of countertops do you offer?
A. We offer many types of countertops to fit any budget:
laminate, laminate with special edges, wood, solid surfacing,
stainless steel and other metals, engineered stone and natural
stone (granite, marble).
Q.
What about Granite Countertops?
A. Granite is a very hard natural stone that comes in a
variety of colors/patterns. Because it is natural, each slab of
granite is unique and will vary in color and character from piece
to piece. Granite provides a beautiful surface that under normal
use will not scratch, burn or chip. It can be stained however, particularly
with red wines and oils. Over the years, natural granite has
been viewed as a high-priced choice for kitchen countertops. But
because of modern manufacturing techniques and greater
accessibility of the product, the price of natural granite
countertops is more affordable than ever.
Q.
What about concrete countertops?
A. If you are looking for the latest trendy material in
your home, we do have suppliers that can provide them.
However, we do not recommend concrete countertops to our
clients at this time. Even when sealed they are porous, and crack and chip with normal use.
Q. At what point do I need to select appliances?
A. It is very important that you select your appliances
before designing or very early in the design process. This insures
that our designers have the exact measurements necessary to see to
it that everything fits as it should in your kitchen.
